Total War now has a lot built-in metrics, so we can see which features, areas and modes are the most played. This helps us to build a picture of what we’re doing right and where we can do better. I don’t think we could ever rule it out. We’d never rule out any era, for that matter. There are some great game design challenges out there that we’ll no doubt get our teeth into at some point.
We’re drawn to whatever feels right at the time. Shogun 2 came ten years after Shogun when we felt the tech was in the right place to do it justice and improve on what came before.
